The Story Behind Every BlanBunny Cup

Meet the artists and the idea that brought tea, illustration and everyday rituals together.

The Story Behind Every BlanBunny Cup with the Royal Garden Tea-for-One Set

A cup of tea can be wonderfully ordinary: a kettle, a quiet minute, a place to put down your thoughts. BlanBunny asks what happens when illustration joins that ritual. The answer is not that every cup must become an occasion. It is that a small visual detail can make us notice the occasion already there.

Here is the story behind that idea, and a simple way to carry it into your own tea moment.

It began with tea and drawing

BlanBunny says it was founded in Hangzhou in 2014 by four graduates of the China Academy of Art. Their starting point was to bring tea, illustration and thoughtful design together. Tea was already part of everyday life; the invitation was to make that familiar pause feel a little more considered. You can read the brand's account in Our Story.

The rabbit is part of that identity. In the brand's telling, a curious rabbit discovers tea, stories and rituals across different places. It offers a thread between collections without telling you how your own cup must look or feel.

Why the picture matters

Illustration changes the moment before the first sip. An image on a box or cup gives you something to look at while the tea is being made. It can also make a gift feel chosen for a particular person, rather than taken from a shelf at random.

That does not mean the design should do all the work. The tea, the practical details and the way a product fits someone's routine still matter. The most satisfying choice is where the visual world and the real use of the object meet.

One brand, several ways in

BlanBunny organizes its collections into story worlds, including Dreamland Circus, Green Land of Oz, Sweet Dream, Alice's Adventures, King's Garden and April Chapter. Their names and artwork offer different starting points. You can follow the one that catches your eye, then check what kind of tea or teaware it actually contains.

For instance, the Green Land of Oz Tea Book Box puts tea into a book-like presentation. The Sweet Dream Double-Layer Tea Brick Gift Set takes a layered gift-box approach. They invite different kinds of opening and sharing, but neither is the answer for everyone. Start with the recipient's taste and the moment they are likely to have.

Make the ritual your own

There is no correct way to have a beautiful tea break. A solo cup at a desk can be as meaningful as a carefully laid table. Choose a tea you want to drink, leave the phone aside for a few minutes, and notice one detail: the color in the cup, the picture on the package, or the person you are sharing it with.

That is the part of BlanBunny's story worth keeping. Design can open the door, but the tea moment belongs to you.
